On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

Wow.
I had no idea so many people would respond to my tiny I'm-just-thinking-outloud post about fic feedback.  My intent wasn't to chastise anyone, so I hope no one interpreted my entry that way.  Many times I'm just thinking on the page here at LJ, at least with my non-story posts.  That's definitely the case with the aforementioned post.

I can't respond to all your comments right now, but I'll be back.  In the meantime, thanks for commiserating or simply sharing your thoughts.  Just another reason to love this place. :)

For one of the maker activities over at [info]magicmachine, we each did a mini OTP picspam. (you can see all of the lovelies here, here, and here)

I did mine on Booth and Brennan. (lol shocker)

Part of this idea came from the always hilarious [info]obrien_blue, who said, "It’s possible that Booth could get Brennan pregnant just by looking at her."

I couldn't agree more.

Here @ my journal. :)

I won't beg or blackmail for comments on fic, but it does bother me that so few people share their thoughts on stories.  The ratio of feedback to reads, alerts, and favorites is rather appalling -- not in an objective sense, of course.  There is a universe of reasons why people read without commenting; I know that.  And I don't dwell on the fact that so many read with semi-invisibility.  But if I'm being completely honest, and right now I am, it does sadden me.

I'm really stupid when it comes to livejournal.
I wrote something that I'd like to post but don't know how to make a link to it instead of posting the whole thing. Am I making sense? Lol. Can anyone help me out?

Which episode does Bones kiss Booth on the cheek? I remember seeing the episode not too long ago and I've seen a few icons with that scene and I can't for the life of me remember which episode it was. So it would be great if someone could help me out here.

I know [info]nursebadass just posted about this, like, yesterday, but: we've extended the voting for Round 5 of Last Fanfiction Author Standing. The current number of votes (3) is not enough to make an elimination and since the lack of votes is my fault for not pimping the voting as much as I should have (blame NaNoWriMo), we've decided to extend voting rather than do some funky math with prior rounds to come up with an elimination.

Voting for Round 5 of LFAS remains open until noon on Friday, November 13th. Please go here to vote!

Thank you!

Title: Desperate for You
Author: [info]lizook12
Pairing: Temperance Brennan/Seeley Booth
Rating: Strong PG/T
Spoilers: None
A/N: Title found in the Miranda Lambert song Desperation
Summary: She could’ve been home listening to him yell at the game, actually reading some backed issues of Anthropology Now, or even just reorganizing their DVD collection, but, no, Amy had insisted she go.

Title: The Meat in the Loaf (Part 1 of 2)
Author: [info]fiery_twilight
Pairing: Booth/Brennan
Rating: G
Word Count: 1,327
Spoilers: Vague spoilers for A Night at the Bones Museum but takes place sometime during the s4 timeline.
Disclaimer: Do I look like Hart Hanson to you? (I really, really hope not)
Summary: Brennan learns about Booth's strange aversion to hard boiled eggs and attempts to teach him how to cook. (OMG WORST SUMMARY EVER. I'M NEW AT THIS, OKAY? XD)

A/N: My first Bones fic! I'll happily receive any and all criticism, but please keep the rotten fruit throwing down to a minimum. :) A big thanks to [info]_nigella_ for being my beta, and to [info]kousuke_blade, [info]humansrsuperior, and [info]rosie_not_rose for their kind words and encouragement. :)

It was a cute story, she had to admit. And though he seemed embarrassed about it, he still chose to tell her, which she found to be oddly endearing.
